Miles upon miles of road, paved trails, multi-use trails and singletrack trails await cyclists of all kinds. Most wind through preserves with pristine views of forests and lakes.
Boating and Waterskiing
The abundance of lakes in the area make it the ideal place to spend the day water skiing, jet skiing, or just taking in the scenery on your boat.

Canoeing and Kayaking
With so many lakes, rivers and streams in the Northwoods, there's something for everyone at any experience level -- from lazy rivers, to rapids and falls.
The Land O' Lakes area of the Northwoods has some of the best freshwater sport fishing in the United States, if not all of North America. Fishing is a year-round sport with many derbies, festivals and competitions.
There are eight 18-hole golf courses located within the Northwoods area. Each with it’s own variety of terrain, scenery and challenges. Many courses partner with nearby resorts and lodges to offer golf and lodging packages.
With over half a million acres of forest preserves in the Northwoods, there are hundreds of miles of hiking trails and wilderness to explore -- from short, guided paths, to challenging exploration. Area maps and even tour guides are available.
There are many horse farms and equestrian clubs in the Northwoods area. Daily trail rides and even overnight cross-country rides are available.
With hundreds of thousands of acres of public hunting land available and managed, there is a wide range of game available, from small fowl to deer and even black bear.
There are many interesting historical museums throughout the Northwoods area, including a childeren’s museum in Eagle River, Wisconsin.
Skiing, Snowboarding and Snowshoeing
Take your passion for hiking into the winter season with snowshoeing. The Northwoods also sports some of the best cross-country skiing in the Midwest. There are also five locations for downhill skiing and snowboarding.
The Northwoods contains 600 miles of groomed snowmobile trails spanning over 750,000 acres of forests and preserves. Rentals, tours and lodging are all readily available.
Land O’ Lakes boasts a terrific and challenging course with a variety of different shooting stations.
